My Go-To Summer Dress

Every summer I usually have one new dress that I fall in love with and wear a ton. This usually is a breezy option that is comfortable and keeps me cool on the hot days. This year’s dress might be my absolute favorite. I found it for only $40 at a little boutique. The black and white pattern is so fun and I will have a great time accessorizing it. I wore it recently for a double date night where we sat on the patio of one of my favorite restaurants. Next time I’m thinking of pairing it with pops of neon :).

Have a great evening!

4th of July Fashion

Hello hello! I hope you had a wonderful weekend. We had a blast with cardio tennis, date night, some pool time and a fun lunch with my bro. Oh and we got really wild and rented a carpet cleaner from Home Depot and deep cleaned the whole house. It was time consuming but made a huge difference! Funny how things that excite you sure do change as you get older huh?!

I’m excited for this short holiday week! We are headed to spend the long weekend with Eric’s family. Can’t wait! Of course as I think about packing I consider what to wear for the 4th of July festivities. Whether you’ll be hitting the pool or hanging out at a BBQ, here are some fun, festive 4th of July fashions.

Swimsuit Style

Summer time is here which means getting some fun pool days in! In the past I usually just grab a low-cost swimsuit that doesn’t fit great but works. I decided this summer I would like to find one that fits well, is stylish and functional. I like to be able to swim around, snorkel or do water sports if we are on vacation, etc. I’m not great at just laying by the pool or beach…I want to jump in the water and be active. I found some fun suits below that look both stylish and functional. Now I just need to narrow it down!

I love the preppy, fresh feel of this suit from TopShop

Silk Tank and Colored Jeans

June is still a bit unpredictable weather wise in Colorado. The mornings start pretty hot and sunny but it can cool down quite a bit by the afternoon as the cloud and rain roll in. For that reason tank tops and jeans are a good option to have to get through the day. I was feeling the cool ocean colors when I put this outfit together. I love this silk top. It is so comfortable yet feels dressy and put together. I was even more excited to pair this outfit with my new Noonday Collection necklace!

The jeans are from Target last summer and the silk top was from Nordstrom BP awhile ago. I just got the gold wedge sandals on final clearance at Target… such a good deal!

This outfit worked for a day filled with lunch with a friend, business meetings and a BBQ that night. Quite versatile!

Summer Breeze

Eric and I went on a date last week to one of our favorite wine bars and date spots, The Village Cork. We’ve been going to this little spot since we first started dating and it’s always a special night for us when we go back. I wanted to wear a summer dress and also wear flats since I knew we might be walking around the neighborhood too.

I forgot I even had this dress… I’ve had it for years and haven’t worn it recently. I gave it one more shot for date night and if I didn’t love it then it needs to go to another home. I actually still really liked it, especially when paired with these studded gladiator flats. I’ve been letting my hair air dry with my natural waviness using the product I featured here. Summer’s the best isn’t it?!

Favorite Summer Beauty Products

Summer time means time to lighten up your beauty routine. For me it’s key to have a low maintenance beauty routine that will only take me a few minutes to do and will last on these hot days. I don’t like anything too heavy on my skin as it is so I’m always looking for products that go on light and have a fresh look and feel.

Here are some of my favorite products for my summer beauty routine!

beach spray

Beach Spray for wavy hair. I put away the hair tools and let my hair air dry with this all summer.

tinted moisturizer

This tinted moisturizer takes over for any foundation or powder in the summer. It’s so light you don’t even notice it’s on your skin. It’s my go-to for sure!

blush

I love this blush! It’s my go-to for summer peachy cheeks. It’s also great for oily skin. The color I use and is pictured is glisten.

lip balm

I just got this lip balm in my birchbox. It’s perfect for summer with a touch of color but keeps your lips hydrated. This color is coral crush.

perfume

A great perfume to throw in your purse or travel bag this summer. Of course coming from Kate Spade it’s light and playful.

polish

My favorite nail polish right now is this punchy tangerine. The best part is it’s only a few dollars and stays on pretty well. The color is called Big Daddy.

Do you have any beauty products that you love for summer?!

Bright Stripes

This bright stripped silk top (an old buy from Zara) is one of my go-to pieces come warm weather. I love the bright, fresh feel of the stripes. It pairs well with many pieces but one of my favorites was with the boyfriend jeans below. I bought these a few months ago and am wearing them a ton. They are so comfortable but easy to dress up for meetings or dinner out with heels and the right top. I’ll be getting a ton of use out of both of these pieces this summer!

Champagne in the Garden

The highlight of our Sonoma trip was the amazing experience we had at Robert Hunter Winery.  We were so glad that a friend of ours recommended that we make a reservation for a tasting at Robert Hunter. It truly was unlike any experience we had ever had. We had a private tasting on the owner’s beautiful patio surrounded by the most exquisite gardens. Robert Hunter is known for their 10 year aged champagne and it was incredible. We also sampled a few of their wines which were delicious as well.

For this day I was excited to wear a new summer dress I also found at the jcrew outlet. I love dresses like this that can either be dressed up or dressed down depending on shoes and accessories. I paired it with gold jewelry and stacked heels.

The gardens are something I will always remember, I can’t wait to go back someday and would highly recommend a visit if you are ever in Sonoma!

Sunshine and Wine

We had an amazing time in Sonoma last week! The weather was perfect and of course the wine and cheese were amazing. It’s been a little tough to get back to reality around here :).

I was pretty excited to pack for this trip knowing we would have beautiful weather and the chance to put together some very fun looks. I found this gorgeous green floral silk top at a j.crew outlet, but they also still have it for sale online! I paired it with white jeans and bright pink earrings for a look that could easily from our afternoon wine tastings to dinner out that night. I love the detail of the opening in the back and it actually helped keep me cool. I can tell this top will be a go to piece for me this summer.

Tennis Time

Tennis was a huge part of my life growing up. I played competitive junior tennis and then continued on to play in college. While I have always loved the sport, I took a good long break from playing post college. Recently, Eric (who also played in college) and I have started to get back into playing and are really enjoying it. We love getting to play together while also getting a good workout in. Of course I have to admit that part of the excitement of playing again is all of the cute tennis outfits. Tennis clothes have gotten so much more stylish! As I mentioned in my last workout wear post, I’m a believer in having a cute workout outfit makes you play better right?!

My cute husband surprised me with this adorable tennis dress from Lululemon a couple weeks ago. I love it because it is great for tennis but also stylish enough to wear around town running errands, to a farmer’s market, etc. The dress sold out online pretty quickly, but if you’re interested your local Lululemon store may still have it.
